Dental crowns are known to be strong and reliable, but that’s only if you take proper care of them. So, in order to keep your dental crown in tip-top shape over time, we strongly recommend doing the following things on a regular basis:
· Brush: Brush your teeth every morning and every night; however, you are more than welcome to brush more frequently if you desire. As you brush, please use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Do your best to scrub thoroughly, especially around your dental crown.
· Floss:Please floss your smile at least once a day. Flossing will help you remove the harmful particles in your smile that your toothbrush was not able to remove. This will help keep your crown in tip-top shape. If you need flossing tips, please feel free to ask our dental team.
· Rinse: Swish some mouthwash daily to complete the cleaning job and to protect your dental crown from any dental problems. Please rinse with a beneficial mouthwash, like antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash, and follow the swishing instructions on the bottle.
· Visit your dentist: It is vital that you visit your dentist every six months for a dental cleaning and exam. These appointments will help your dentist check on the dental crown and make any necessary changes. It will also allow our dental team to properly clean your smile to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental problems.
If you need help brushing, flossing, or rinsing or if you need to schedule your next cleaning and exam, please feel free to call Center For Dental Rehabilitation at 602.485.0505 and schedule an appointment with Dr. Maureen Toal. We are happy to help you properly care for your smile so you can have a long-lasting dental crown. We look forward to your call!
