These days, it seems like there’s no shortage of new, interesting dental procedures available. One that’s getting used more and more often is sedation dentistry. A lot of people aren’t familiar with what’s involved with the process.
Today, we’re going to walk you through what sedation dentistry entails. We’ll also give you an idea of why you might want it during your next visit with a doctor.
What is it?
As its name implies, sedation dentistry is merely any dental procedure performed on a patient who’s been sedated. It’s likely that Dr. Maureen Toal will recommend sedation dentistry for you if you have dental anxiety.
How does it work?
Sedation dentistry works on three different levels. The first is by using laughing gas, or nitrous oxide, to gently help you relax. The last two either put you on the edge of consciousness or knock you out completely.
When do I need it?
You can ask any of us here at Center For Dental Rehabilitation in Phoenix, Arizona, when we’d recommend sedation dentistry. There’s a chance that we’ll recommend this if you’ve ever shown signs of, or expressed, anxiety about dental procedures before.
