Sedation dentistry helps patients who suffer from stress or dental anxiety to relax during their appointments. Sedation can make your visit to our office and your procedure much easier.
To learn more about sedation dentistry, please read the following:
– For the most powerful form of sedation, general anesthesia can be used. General anesthesia will put the patient to sleep.
– For a fast-acting sedative, intravenous sedation administered through an injection is almost instantaneous. It is administered into the bloodstream.
– If you would like a sedative that is effective yet will not leave you drowsy, you may opt for laughing gas. Laughing gas is routinely used, and is a combination of oxygen and nitrous oxide.
– If you prefer a sedative in the form of a pill or tablet, there are options available. However, they do take time to take effect and should only be used as prescribed by your dentist.
