As the timer runs down, you swish, swish, swish the refreshing mouthwash, cleaning your entire smile right before bed. As the buzzer sounds, you spit the liquid back into the sink and you instantly feel as though your mouth is the cleanest, strongest, and most beautiful mouth in all the land. This is the process of rinsing your mouth with mouthwash—and it is something that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Mouthwash is a beneficial and successful liquid that deeply cleans your smile after you have brushed and flossed your teeth. Rinsing is a great way to nourish and strengthen your smile as well as:

• Protect your smile from cavities
• Shield your teeth and gums from oral diseases
• Reduce the amount of plaque on your teeth
• Slow the growth of tartar on your smile
• Remove debris from your mouth
• Strengthen and protect tooth enamel
• Freshen your breath

There are many different types of mouthwashes that have all of these benefits, including anti-gingivitis mouthwash, fluoride mouthwash, and bacteria-killing mouthwash. If you add the rinsing process to your oral hygiene routine, your smile will grow stronger each day and you will further protect your teeth from dental problems.

When you rinse, sip a small amount of the liquid into your mouth and swish it around for 30-40 seconds, or however long the mouthwash label suggests. When the time is up, simply spit the liquid into the sink. Please follow additional instructions that are provided on the label.
